Welcome to Hart Elementary

Thank you for visiting our site.  It is an honor and pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the Hart Elementary Staff.  We encourage you to make an appointment to visit the campus, or contact our office if you have questions that we might assist you with.

Hart Elementary became the second Lovejoy ISD elementary campus in 2000.  After seven years of educating students, we now have approximately 530 students in grades K-5.  We offer a PPCD program for children ages 3-5 who qualify for services in specific areas.  As a district, we are thrilled that our secondary students now attend Lovejoy High School, which opened in August, 2006.  This will be the last year that grades 6-8 will attend LHS, along with the current 9th and 10th graders.  In Fall 2008, grades 6-8 will attend the new Lovejoy Middle School, and LHS will house grades 9-11, until the first class graduates in May, 2010.  A third elementary campus will also open in Fall, 2008.

Hart offers an after school care program for Hart families, called Kid's First.  Students can remain at school until 6pm under the care of district employees.  You can receive more information from our school office.  We also offer a day care for employees children.

We serve children in grades K-3 in self-contained classrooms, with one homeroom teacher instructing all of the core areas.  In grades 4 and 5, students will have two or three teachers in the core subjects of reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies.  All students also attend Physical Education classes three times a week, along with single classes lasting 45 minutes in Music, Art, Spanish, and Technology.

Hart provides instruction for students who qualify for gifted and talented education.  These classes range from three hours per week for grades K-2, to daily classes of 90 minutes in the areas of math and interdisciplinary studies for grades 3-5.  We also offer targeted instruction for children who qualify for 504 accommodations and plans, as well as special education services.  These include a variety of individual options as we tailor each plan to meet the specific needs of individual students.  Other potential intervention models include Alpha Phonics instruction and Reading Recovery.

As our district continues to grow in numbers, we will continue to search for the best ways to serve our students.  Our PTA is an integral part of our campus and provides unbelievable support and leadership in our goal to enrich the learning and lives of each student.  I encourage you to contact our PTA, become a member, and actively utilize your talents to contribute to the success of each Hart learner.  We have the children, the staff, and the parents to make Hart the best place for all of us to learn, teach, and serve.  If we work together, we believe all things are possible.

Please contact me if we can be of any assistance.

ONE HART,

Al
