A Note from Kathyby Kathy Foster Hart Families and Friends,
Thank you to everyone for such a wonderful Family Fun Night! We were cut short with the rain at the end, but I will say it was the fastest clean up we have ever experienced!
Be sure to sign up for the parent session at Learning @ Lovejoy: A Parent's Guide to Standards-Based Reporting. Dr. Guskey will share his expertise around standards-based reporting and how it can better communicate and involve parents in their student's learning. The parent session will take place on July 24 from 6:30-8:30 P.M. Please open the attached flyer and it will direct you to where you can register for this event. Or you can go to the Learning @Lovejoy link on our district website and visit the parent section to complete the registration.
It does not seem possible to say that we only have two weeks left of school. When I looked at the upcoming dates section, you would think their were two months with all we have happening here at Hart! Be sure to check the dates so that you do not miss out on any of the fun.

* Teacher Request Forms - If you would like to make a request for your child's next year's teacher, please take a moment to complete the form that went home in today's Thursday folders and return to us by Friday, May 18th, in the provided envelope. We do ask that you provide us with names of your top three choices as at times, we must use your 2nd or 3rd choice due to scheduling. Thanks so much for your input!
* Fifth Grader – Order Forms -- Please take a moment to review the attached forms and time line for our next year’s 6th graders. You’ll find an order form for school supply packets, a planner order form, as well as a timeline of events. The supply packet and planner order form are due by Friday, May 18th.
* Hart Library Books -- All Hart library books are due tomorrow.
Please email Laurie Tayce at laurie_tayce@lovejoyisd.net if you are not planning on returning to Hart Elementary for the 2012 – 2013 school year. This allows us to create the most updated accurate class lists. Thanks so much!
If your child is missing jackets, sweaters, etc. you may want to stop by to look through the items in our Lost and Found. Leftovers will be donated to charity this summer.

Monday, May 28th is a Holiday for students and staff! The last day of school, Friday, June 1, is an early release day at 12:00.

Negative Balance in the Cafeteria We appreciate you taking care of any charges in the cafeteria as soon as possible. It’s easy to overlook deadlines this time of year. There are so many things going on and we certainly understand!

The 5th grade students will be viewing the Always Changing fifth grade puberty education video on May 29th at 2 PM. If you would like to view the video before hand or use any of the information on line, here's the web site http://www.pgschoolprograms.com/parents.php#1. It's important that each student have a signed permission form turned in by May 25th. The form went home with 5th graders last week.
Please check your child's folder today for a reminder to pick up medications from the clinic anytime over the next 2 weeks. Medications that have not been picked up by noon on June 1st will be disposed of.
PTA Notes:
Lovejoy ISD has adopted a standards-based report card in Grades K-3. The new reporting system will continue into Grade 4 with the coming 2012-2013 school year. Lovejoy elementary principals and teachers are invested in creating a deeper understanding of the philosophy behind this type of reporting system because it is so different than report cards of the past. To support this transition, Dr. Thomas Guskey will share his expertise around standards-based reporting and how it can better communicate and involve parents in their student’s learning. Join us for this informative session on July 24, 6:30-8:30, in the LHS Auditorium. The school store at SCMS is having an end of the year BLOWOUT SALE! Almost all of the inventory has been reduced by 50%. Please stop by and stock up on some great spirit wear items. Items include t-shirts, shorts, capris, hats, coffee mugs, etc. The store is open every M-W-F during the lunch hours as well as Tuesday, May 22 and Thursday May 24.

This year we are having a contest within Lovejoy ISD for participation in the Country Run. The school with the most participants will get a trophy and $5 for each student participant will be donated to the winning school.
The Leopards’ Lacrosse Middle School just completed a very successful Spring season and we are expanding the program by adding a 5/6 grade level to ensure a strong future and success of Leopard Lacrosse for the Lovejoy community!
